Micro region Buchlov
It consists of 12 villages with land registers in the area of the mountain range of Chřiby in Moravian Slovakia. There are more than 7,000 inhabitants and the area is approximately 125 km2. By creating the micro region, the villages develop their conditions to increase the attractiveness of an area rich in history and nature and the offer of a wide range of touristic possibilities. If you look at the map, you will be absorbed by the continuous green forests, especially beech ones. There are structured downs with lonely rocks from early Tertiary sandstone. Chřiby is a natural park with numerous protected plants and species and abundant cultural monuments.

Short characterization of individual villages:

Buchlovice (2,506 inhabitants)
The largest village of the micro region – tourism, wine production, accommodations in the village in the hotel Buchlovice and in the spa village Smraďavka. National monuments - the state chateau with a garden, wine gallery and the castle of Buchlov. Many offers of cultural programs, renewed spa, fishing and water sports possibilities. In the village there is a rescue station breeding birds of prey.

Břestek (683 inhabitants)
Tourism, a sports area, a piste 500m long with two lifts, artificial snow and night skiing, a climbing area on the rock Břestecká skála, the settlement of Chabaně with an important protected monumental tree, Sequoiadendron giganteum, whose trunk has a circumference of nearly 6 m.

Hostějov (36 inhabitants)
The smallest village offering nice views of Dolnomoravský úval; wine-growing tradition.

Modrá (640 inhabitants)
Picturesque wine-growing village with the archaeological site, Na Díle, the Archeological Open-Air Museum with an imitation of St. John's Church from the turn of the 8th and 9th centuries – a memorial site of Great Moravia, educational trails, a view tower, a cascade of fishing ponds, swimming possibilities, accommodations in Hotel u Velehradu.

Osvětimany (832 inhabitants)
Recreational village, swimming possibilities in the valley reservoir and an open-air swimming pool, pilgrimage place – St. Kliment's Mountain – foundations of a Great Moravian church from the 9th century.

Salaš (350 inhabitants)
Recreational village in the central part of Chřiby, crossroads of touristic trails, natural open-air swimming pool. Starting point for the outing to Brdo (589 m), the highest peak of Chřiby with a stone view tower 24 m high, .

Velehrad (1,432 inhabitants)
The most important pilgrimage place of the Czech Republic with the Basilica of the Assumption of Mary and St. Cyrillus and Methodius, a stone collection under the Basilica and a vast, originally Cistercian, monastery. Swimming possibilities in the ponds, wine production, the wine cellar Magna Moravia; accommodations in Hotel Mlýn, the boarding house Monika and a car-camping area.

Staré Hutě (119 inhabitants)
The village with a glass making tradition, an open-air swimming pool, Zikmundov – courtyard, and horse riding. In the forests above the village you can find the stone formation called Buchlov's stone.

Stříbrnice (417 inhabitants)
One of the oldest villages of the region with hunting right on the castle of Buchlov; the protected area Stříbrnické paseky, the chapel of St. Prokop, and Devil's Rock.

Stupava (196 inhabitants)
The village in the middle of Chřiby; a piste with a lift with artificial snowing; nearby ruins of the castle Cimburk and a stone formation Pulpit.

Tupesy
A new member of the micro region. The village is famous particularly for its production of ceramics of Tupesy.

Zlechov
A new member of the micro region.

All villages in the micro region are connected by the so-called Great Moravian Pilgrimage Route for pedestrians with routes for cyclotourists. Some parts of the area are covered by wine-growing paths leading from Southern Moravia to Uherské Hradiště.

The micro region Buchlov offers a nice possibility for wonderful and interesting trips in every season.
